Frequently Asked Questions

Products & Technology

ValiGate® is uncopyable QR code technology developed by the brand KURZ SCRIBOS. Unlike standard QR codes that can be photographed and reprinted, ValiGate® codes contain cryptographic security features that make counterfeiting impossible. This technology has been in the market for 20 years with zero successful imitations to date.

Standard QR codes are simple data carriers that can be copied in seconds. ValiGate® codes incorporate multiple security layers:

Cryptographic Uniqueness: Each code contains encrypted data that cannot be extracted

Physical Security Features: Microscopic elements verified during scanning

Real-Time Verification: Server-side authentication against secure database

Copy Detection: Photographed or reprinted codes are instantly detected as counterfeit

OET provides three product variants as the application and sales partner of the brand KURZ SCRIBOS in Türkiye:

ValiGate® Standard: Adhesive label with uncopyable QR code for application to existing packaging

ValiGate® Green: Environmentally friendly variant using sustainable materials while maintaining full security features

ValiGate® Direct Print: QR code printed directly onto packaging during production — no separate label required

For brands with existing packaging designs, OET can provide just the ValiGate® QR code for integration into existing packaging. This option allows brands to maintain their current designs while adding uncopyable authentication.

SCRIBOS 360 Platform & Service Packages

SCRIBOS 360 is a digital platform developed by the brand KURZ SCRIBOS that transforms product authentication data into business intelligence. The platform includes four modules: Authentication, Grey Market Detection, Customer Interaction, and Data Analytics.

Important: Direct access to the SCRIBOS 360 platform is offered as a premium add- on. The standard package includes OET-managed reporting services.

STANDARD PACKAGE (Included):

  • Consumer authentication via smartphone camera (no app download required)
  • Custom verification screen design and link placement (client provides design)
  • Link updates and maintenance throughout the year
  • Daily reporting of suspicious detections with locations
  • Same-day notification when counterfeit detected
  • Weekly general summary report

PREMIUM PACKAGE (Additional Fee):

  • Direct access to SCRIBOS 360 platform
  • Real-time dashboards and analytics
  • Full access to all modules
  • Advanced geographic heat maps
  • Customer engagement tools and loyalty program integration

In the standard package, all reporting services are performed by OET through the KURZ SCRIBOS platform. OET monitors authentication data, compiles reports, and delivers them to clients on the agreed schedule. This managed service approach ensures clients receive actionable insights without needing to navigate the platform themselves.

Same-day notification. When the system detects a suspicious scan pattern or potential counterfeit, OET notifies the client within the same business day. Daily detailed reports include all suspicious detections with their geographic locations.

OET provides maximum flexibility with four authentication options:

FREE Options:

Camera Scan (No App): Works with any smartphone camera. Instant verification. Zero barriers for consumers

OET App: Free download, optimized experience, enhanced security

PREMIUM Options:

White-Label App: Custom mobile app with your own brand name and design

Existing App Integration: SDK integration into your existing mobile application

With camera-only scanning, sophisticated counterfeiters could theoretically create fake QR codes redirecting to lookalike domains. The brand KURZ SCRIBOS actively monitors for such attempts and blocks them. However, for maximum security, the OET App (free) connects directly to SCRIBOS 360 servers, making domain spoofing impossible.

Implementation & Integration

OET provides turnkey implementation with three options:

Adhesive Labels: ValiGate® labels applied to existing packaging — minimal production changes

Integrated Labels: ValiGate® incorporated into existing label design

Direct Print: ValiGate® printed directly during packaging production

Implementation timeline varies based on selected package and order quantity, typically ranging from 15 days to 2 months:

15–30 Days: Standard package, moderate quantities, existing packaging design

1–2 Months: Premium package, large quantities, or complex integration requirements

OET provides a detailed timeline tailored to your specific requirements during the initial assessment phase.

Key Insight: While turning your customers into your own inspectors, you're also turning them into brand fans.

Customer participation transforms authentication from a passive security feature into an active brand engagement opportunity:

Distributed Inspection Network: Every consumer who scans becomes an unpaid field inspector

Brand Trust Building: The verification act creates a brand interaction moment

Emotional Connection: Customers develop an ownership mentality toward the brand

Viral Protection: Engaged customers share their verification experience

Feedback Loop: Direct consumer interaction provides invaluable market insights

Verification screen design is provided by the client and implemented by OET. This includes visual design, brand elements, and additional content displayed when consumers verify product authenticity. OET handles technical implementation, link placement, and ongoing maintenance.

Yes. Link designs, promotional content, and verification screen elements can be updated throughout the year as part of the standard service. This allows brands to run seasonal campaigns, update product information, or modify the consumer experience without additional technical work.

Strategic Questions for Executives

Key Differentiators: 20 years zero imitation | 30–40% cheaper than hologram | Your data, your ownership

ValiGate® is fundamentally different from many solutions in the market. Here are two simple tests you can perform yourself:

TEST 1 — Photocopy Test:

Take any authentication solution and photocopy it. Then scan it. Does it immediately say "This is not original"? Other solutions don't detect copies. ValiGate® does — instantly and definitively.

TEST 2 — Simplicity Test:

Scan the code. Do you need to enter a code, answer questions, or take additional steps? With ValiGate® — no codes, no extra steps, instant authentication.

ValiGate® Advantage:

20 years on the market with zero successful imitations. Trusted by BMW, Mercedes, Stellantis, Bayer, NIVEA, and TotalEnergies.

SCRIBOS 360 transforms every scan into business intelligence and marketing opportunity:

Seafood Labels

Seafood labels face some of the harshest conditions in the packaging industry. They must withstand:

  • Deep-freeze storage (–18°C and below)
  • Heavy condensation and moisture exposure
  • Freeze-thaw cycles during logistics
  • Wet application on PE/PP films and iced boxes
  • Extended cold-chain storage (6–12 months)

OET uses deep-freeze acrylic adhesives and wet-strength reinforced papers specifically engineered for these conditions.

European Union (EU Reg 1169/2011):

  • Mandatory FAO fishing zone indication
  • Production method (wild-caught/farmed)
  • Allergen declarations with prominence rules

Canada (CFIA):

  • Mandatory bilingual labelling (English/French)

Nordic Countries:

  • Enhanced sustainability and FSC-certified material requirements

  • Incorrect adhesive chemistry: Standard adhesives crystallize at sub-zero temperatures
  • Low initial tack on wet surfaces: Fresh fish packs are often damp at application
  • Freeze-thaw cycles: Temperature transitions cause expansion/contraction stress
  • Wrong facestock: Materials not matched to surface energy of PE/PP films

  • PP/PE Films: For deep-freeze, high clarity for barcode scanning
  • Wet-Strength Papers: For carton boxes requiring moisture resistance
  • Deep-Freeze Adhesives: UPM DF acrylic or low-temperature hot-melt systems
  • Food-Contact Compliant: EU Regulation 10/2011, FDA 21 CFR 175.105

  • Volume flexibility: 10,000 to 1,000,000+ labels per order
  • Standard lead time: 10–15 working days
  • Expedited production available for urgent requirements

Yes. OET produces export-ready multilingual labels compliant with EU, Nordic, Canadian, and MENA market requirements including Arabic/English/French combinations.

Tyre Labels FAQ

Regulation (EU) 2020/740 requires all tyres sold in the EU to carry a standardized label displaying:

  • Fuel efficiency class (A to E scale)
  • Wet grip class (A to E scale)
  • External rolling noise (dB value and class A/B/C)
  • QR code linking to EPREL database
  • Ice grip and snow grip icons (where applicable)

Non-compliant labels can result in customs delays, market access rejection, and fines.

FullPrint EU Tyre Label:

  • Complete printed labels, flexo or digital, up to 8 colours
  • MOQ: from 10,000 labels/SKU

HybridFrame Semi-Printed:

  • Pre-printed brand elements with blank zones for variable data
  • MOQ: 5,000–10,000 labels per template

BlankGrip Unprinted:

  • Tyre-grade materials only
  • MOQ: 20,000–30,000 labels per size

Regular labels fail on tyres due to:

  • Low surface energy: Rubber requires specialized adhesive chemistry
  • Dusty warehouse conditions: Contaminants interfere with adhesion
  • Temperature variations: Storage and shipping expose labels to shifts
  • Long logistics chains: Labels must survive extended shipping routes

Minimum order quantities are:

  • FullPrint: from 10,000 labels per SKU
  • HybridFrame: 5,000–10,000 labels per template
  • BlankGrip: 20,000–30,000 labels per size

Yes. We do not change materials mid-season. You receive the same facestock, colour calibration, and adhesive performance throughout your order cycle.

OET tyre labels are used by:

  • Tyre importers and distributors entering EU markets
  • Private label tyre brands
  • Regional wholesalers managing multiple SKUs
  • Industrial label printers seeking quality base materials
